Learning the Craft

Born in Valapad, Thrissur, Lal Jose entered the film industry as an assistant director to Kamal, working across a string of his productions through the 1990s. He went on to serve as associate director to filmmakers including Thampy Kannamthanam, Lohithadas, Harikumar, Vinayan and K. K. Haridas — nearly a decade learning the craft before stepping behind the camera himself.
